The Weirdness of Shoe Trees

People have done strange things since the beginning of creation.  But one weird thing is when they tie a pair of shoes together and hang them over trees.  Hence, the Shoe Tree.

Apparently, the origins of the Shoe Tree go back to the days of the Great Depression in the 1930’s when people would hang a pair of shoes for the less fortunate people.

The Great Depression ended, but the popularity of the Shoe Tree did not.  It is said that after WW2, some soldiers would hang up their army boots on trees, as if to say, “I’m done!”

Shoe Trees can be found all over the world, with different reasons for them.  One common fact is that they are quite a sight to behold!

In the Bible, we read about another kind of tree – the Saviour’s Tree.  The ‘tree’ is another name for His cross.

Jesus hung on the cross and died there for you and for me.  They removed His body and buried it in a borrowed tomb.  Then, on the third day, He rose from the grave Victorious!

Gal_3:13  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
