Genesis 50: 19-20
“And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”
There are many things in our lives that we don’t understand because we don’t possess the omniscience of God. Events, situations, and even people can lead us to a point wherein we question God, other people, and ourselves.
When Joseph began to dream two dreams about himself, he probably thought that life would be an easy life for him. Little did he know that God slowly put him into several trials. First, his brothers sold him as a slave. After that, the wife of Potiphar falsely accused him of a crime he did not commit. Later, he was imprisoned, then forgotten by the chief butler. However, in all those events you can’t miss this phrase in the life of Joseph, “And the LORD was with Joseph…” What an incredible phrase!
For us, it is probably uncomplicated to see how God was always with Joseph because God revealed it to us in the Scripture. But for Joseph, it was a daily battle of faith in God because he did not know the whole picture of his life.
We Christians are in the same battle daily. Satan wants us to lose sight and trust in God. The God of Joseph is the same God who promised us that “He will never leave us nor forsake us.” Hence, fear not because the God who sees everything is the God who in control of everything.
Let us continue to fix our eyes on Him; let us continue to trust Him even in our difficult situation; and let patiently wait in prayers. Lord, increase our faith!
