Crazy Cows Strike Again!
Back in 1871, the city of Chicago was lit up in flames and people said it was started when a cow kicked over a lantern in a barn. Whether that’s what actually happened or not, we may never know. But in January 2014 a group of highly flatulent cows blew up a dairy farm in the town of Rasdorf, in central Germany.
Experts say that some cows can produce up to 500 liters of methane gas per day through their belching and rear ends, which are all very combustible!
In Rasdorf, Germany, 90 cows were kept in a dairy barn when static electricity set off their built-up gasses. Only one of the cows required medical treatment for burns.
Sometimes we hear about crazy things like this happening in the world and we shake our heads. But the truth is, that it’s amazing that more of these things aren’t happening. Why aren’t more houses and cars blowing up? Why aren’t there more crimes happening and more people getting sick with deadly diseases?
If it weren’t for the mercies of God, we’d all be consumed. God is good and kind and rich in mercy, and the crazy things that do happen in the world, or in our lives, are just a small percentage of what could happen.
Lam_3:22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
So, let’s praise and thank the Lord daily for His great love and mercies towards us.
