The Monkey-Tail Beard

They say there is a new trend amongst bearded men, and it’s called the Monkey-Tail Beard.  They say it’s because of the Covid lock-downs that some men started grooming their facial hair this way.

It’s quite a novel idea but, like Covid, I don’t think it’s here to stay long.  Sorry, but I have to tell you this old joke: What did the monkey say when he got his tail cut off?  Answer: “It won’t be long now.”

Sometimes we see some new Christian trend or ‘fad’ but these are not the things that make Christians grow strong in the Lord Jesus Christ.  No, the things that make us grow strong have been around for thousands of years, and they work the same today as they ever have: daily Bible study and earnest prayer, Christian service for God, Christian fellowship and, yes, suffering for the cause of Christ.

Monkey-tail beards may give us a smile, but only certain things will give us the growth and spiritual strength that we desperately need.  And so, while a little variety may be nice, let’s not forget to be heavily involved in the things that will make us more like Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
