This happened when he told the people that he had some miracle anointing-oil that would cure the people’s sicknesses.  Mwamposa fled the scene but was arrested and criminally charged.

The New York Times recently reported that “There has been a rise in the number of pastors who claim they can perform ‘miracle-cures’ and eradicate poverty in Africa.  These pastors spread what they call the ‘prosperity gospel’ and have been involved in financial scams and money laundering schemes.”

They further say that last year, “three people were killed in a stampede at a church in Pretoria, South Africa, during a service led by pastor Bushiri, Africa’s wealthiest preacher.  He was charged with money laundering and fraud after he had smuggled cases of money out of South Africa on his private jet in February 2019.”

What is the answer to this problem?  Educate the people in what the Bible really teaches! 

It’s incredibly sad the number of religious con-artists that are in the world today, preying upon the spiritual ignorance of men and women, promising them miracles and all the while stealing their money to finance their outrageous lifestyles!  Try typing into Google “The Richest Pastors in America” and you will find Benny Hinn, Paula White, Joyce Meyer, Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland, and they ALL promise healing and financial miracles.

The answer, again, is to educate the people on what the Bible really teaches. 

But, sadly, it gets worse as many Christian Radio and Internet Preachers are changing people’s doctrines and causing them to leave their churches.  We probably can’t completely eliminate these problems, but we can sure help through Biblical Christian education.  

I promise you, every false teacher will one day answer to God for their crimes.
