“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Sometimes, there are circumstances in our lives that we think are 'blessings’ but end up being some kind of 'curse' in our lives, primarily if WE are the ones striving for it. There are times that we think the way we walk is the way God wants us to, but it turns out to be a snare in our lives.
The Bible teaches us that we are supposed to trust God in all things, especially when our faith is on trial.
In the Book of Ruth, Elimelech was driven by famine (and lack of faith in God's protection!) to move into the country of Moab. He probably had good intentions for his family and his future, but instead of trusting God, he decided to leave the Promised Land and dwell in a pagan land. Not only that, but his sons married pagan women! The Lord, through Moses, commanded them not to have inter-marriages with other nations. As a result, Elimelech and his sons died in the land of Moab.
We don’t know all that happened to Elimelech and his 2 sons but, by example, they teach us that living outside the will of God will never result in a blessing to our lives. Our human nature tends to do things according to our own will and, though it may seem like a 'blessing' at the time, it usually ends up being a 'curse'.
My friend let us always live according to the will of God. He promises that He is with us always, and He will never leave us nor forsake us!
