Scammers and Generous People

Back in 1996, Dr. Michael Zanakis, associate professor at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, took an albino rat tail, deep fried it, and put it in a McDonald’s Happy Meal.

Michael then called McDonald’s and demanded they give him $5 million dollars.  It led to a court case and an investigation, and Dr. Michael was found guilty and sent to prison.

In 2005, Anna Ayala claimed to have found part of a human finger in her Wendy’s chilli and filed a million-dollar lawsuit against Wendy’s.  She too was found guilty and was sent to prison.

Scammers are always liars, intent on getting rich quick at the expense of others.  But in the long run, cheaters never win and true winners never cheat.  God tells us in 1Tim. 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows And again in Rom. 12:17, Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

Christians can afford to be generous towards people, because our Heavenly Father is rich!  God Himself is generous towards people, and He promises to repay our generosity.  That’s why He says things like:

Pro. 22:9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Ecc. 11:1 Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.

Mat. 5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Rom. 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Therefore, be generous as you go through life.  Be generous towards God and towards missionaries.  God sees all and He will bless your generosity back to you in many wonderful ways.
