Strange and Unusual STORIES

A Little-Known Hero

International Business Machines, or IBM, is one of the most well-known companies in the world.  But when Hitler rose to power in 1933 Germany, he took over the IBM German division to help transport millions of Jews to their death.  The huge IBM tabulators were like the mainframe computers of their day.

But in every crisis, there are secret heroes, and during WW2, Mr. Rene Carmille was that hero.
Rene lived in France and had learned the tabulating business after WW1.  He became, what we would call today, a computer expert.  During WW2, Rene was a member of the French Resistance and he ‘hacked into’ the German tabulation machines and literally saved thousands of Jews from being deported to their deaths.  It’s like he threw a monkey wrench into Hitler’s plans to destroy the Jews. In 1944, Carmille was arrested and tortured by the Nazis, and he died of suffocation aboard a “death train” en route to a concentration camp.

Today, Rene Carmille is remembered as the world’s first ethical computer hacker.

2,000 years ago, our Saviour Jesus Christ stepped into humanity and threw, as it were, a monkey wrench into Satan’s plans to destroy all mankind.  Christ’s death on the cross, and especially His resurrection from the dead, have literally set the captive free!  Satan’s ‘war machine’ (called ‘death’) was delivered a serious blow when Christ broke the bars of death.  Just at the right time in earth’s history, Jesus died and rose from the dead.

Gal. 4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Now, the good news is that whosoever will, may come and be saved FROM hell and FOR heaven.

Rene Carmille died saving a few thousand Jews from Hitler’s gas chambers; but Jesus Christ both died and rose again to save the world from sin and eternal death, and whosoever will may come.
