Strange and Unusual STORIES

Twitter Truth and Lies
It has been said that ERROR can run around the world before TRUTH gets its boots on. Three years ago, 3 researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (photo) looked at 10 years’ worth of Twitter internet stories (126,000 of them!) and they discovered that fake news travelled through the internet “farther, faster deeper and more broadly than the truth in all categories of information”.
They calculated that a true story takes about 60 hours to reach 1,500 Twitter users; whereas a false story only takes 10 hours, which means that false news travels 6 times faster than the truth! And while true stories almost never get re-tweeted to 1,000 people, the top 1% of phony stories got to as many as 100,000 people.
(This must be true because have you noticed how LONG it takes to even get the Gospel into people’s lives?)
These days, there are tons of stories about the origin of Covid-19 and the sinister groups and plots behind it, and where it will all take us. But how much of it is true? One thing is true, and the researchers at MIT have the hard data to prove it – “the more strange and more sensational the story sounds, the more likely people are going to re-tweet it.”
Christians usually will not ‘knowingly’ support lies and falsehood, but they too can be fooled into thinking something false is actually true. Eve, for example, was fooled by Satan into thinking that she and Adam would be better off by eating the forbidden fruit. (She probably never forgot that mistake for the rest of her life.)
God put TRUTH into the Bible and Christians would be wise to simply BELIEVE what God says. Sadly, too many of us will believe the news, or what a friend tells us before we will believe what God wrote in the Bible.
How is it with you today? How QUICK are you to believe God’s promises when it comes to tithing and supporting Missions and the blessings of having a daily Prayer Closet?
Heb 11:6, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
