A New Way to Get Out of Jail

34-year-old Lisa Landon in the USA is a very clever woman (photo).  Two years ago, Lisa was arrested on drug possession, and other charges, and she was due in court when, suddenly, the charges against her was mysteriously dropped.  It seems that Lisa had somehow learned how to submit false court documents, as if she was the prosecuting attorney, and she had all charges against herself dropped!

However, Lisa’s flight to freedom came to a sudden end when a state examiner called the District Attorney and asked if Lisa’s scheduled ‘Competency Examination’ was also cancelled.  It was then that they discovered the hoax and, needless to say, there was no ‘Get Out Of Jail-Free Card’ for Lisa Landon.

But think about it: if it were possible for someone else to serve Lisa’s jail time (as if they went in her place), then she might legitimately get out of jail free.  But the courts do not allow that sort of thing.

But, 2,000 years ago, there was Someone who volunteered to die in our place so that we would not have to go to hell for all eternity; and that Someone was Jesus Christ.  Jesus was the only one capable of saving people from going to hell.  1Peter 3:18 says, For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit

And this is why we all love the words of John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
