John 13:34
“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”
‘One another’ is a remarkably interesting topic especially in Christians and in the church. One another is mentioned 100 times in 94 verses in the New Testament. So, it makes a Christian wonder why would God put so much emphasis on one another? Since it was mentioned so many times in the Bible, it must be an important topic that Christians ought to know.
John 13:34 has one example of one another and that is “love one another.” The Bible is so immersed in this word. In fact, 1 John 4:8 says that “God is love” and He loved the world so much so that Christ died for the sins of the world so that whosoever believeth in Christ should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
So, why is it that “love one another” is so important to Christians that they should manifest it in everyday life? First, it is God’s command. God commanded that all Christians should love one another. This means that Christians ought not to gossip, tear down, or destroy one another. Second, God demonstrated this love to you first. (The first person to understand the love of God is someone who experiences salvation.) Lastly, it is a mark of a true disciple of God. 1 John 4;7 says, “Beloved let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.”
Brothers and sisters in the Lord, let us love one another!
