Recently, almost 300,000 people in France have made news headlines, violently protesting a new diesel fuel tax, while wearing neon-yellow vests that, by law, all drivers are required to carry in their cars. But this new tax was only the spark that lit the powder-keg. The ‘Yellow Vests’ are essentially protesting all the miserable economic woes in France, and feel the government is taxing them to death!
(Say, didn’t very thing happen in 1789 with the French Revolution? They say that the queen, Marie Antoinette, was told the people had no bread and she replied, “Let them eat cake”. Then, voila! The people revolted, taking over the government and putting the king and queen to the guillotine!)
One clever Yellow Vest told the news, “The elites (rich people) worry about the end of the world, while we worry about the end of the month,” (meaning that the struggle to pay all their bills by month’s end).
You know, it’s wonderful to have Almighty God as our Father. Years ago, at a time of heavy economic hardship, our Lord Jesus spoke the following words in Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
That promise is still good for today because Almighty God knows how to look after His children.
